Grain Size Evolution – Microstructure

QForm’s Grain Size Evolution module allows the prediction of grain size and the fraction of recrystallized grains in forged superalloys. It works even when the billet is subject to many blows with short pauses between them such as in hammer forging. The process chain may also include several re-heats.

This is an example of dynamic recrystallization in the upsetting of a large ingot.  Tracked points are used to show grain size at specific locations in the ingot. Any number of tracked points can be inserted and traced forwards or backwards through the entire forming process.
